Top Supreme Court Litigator to Speak in Anchorage

As part of our longstanding commitment to partnering with exemplary organizations in our state to advance a more free and flourishing society, Alaska Family Council is privileged to partner with the Alaska Chapter of the Federalist Society once again by promoting their upcoming luncheon in Anchorage on Tuesday, September 12th at noon at the Petroleum Club.The event is open to lawyers and any other interested Alaskan. U.S Supreme Court RoundupPlease join the Alaska Lawyers Chapter and the Federal Bar Association (Alaska Chapter) for its first annual Supreme Court Roundup to discuss the blockbuster cases—and other interesting cases—from the Supreme Court’s past term.  We are pleased to be joined by Kannon Shanmugam, widely recognized as one of the top Supreme Court litigators in the country, having argued 36 cases before the Court.  Among other interesting cases from last term, Kannon will explore the Supreme Court’s affirmative action decision in Students for Fair Admissions v. Harvard, the voting rights decision in Allen v. Milligan, the student-loan forgiveness case in Biden v. Nebraska, and the religious liberty case in 303 Creative v. Elenis. Alaska Family Action was pleased to join 14 other family policy councils across the nation in signing on to an Amicus Brief in the 303 Creative v. Elenis case that asked whether applying a public-accommodation law to compel an artist to speak or stay silent violates the Free Speech Clause of the First Amendment.
