Some people you meet are very intelligent and you walk away knowing it. Others are brilliant but you leave the conversation thinking you were the smartest guy in the room.Dr. Mark Newcomb is one of those latter guys. As the Headmaster of Holy Rosary Academy in Anchorage, recently ranked for the second time in consecutive years as the top ranked private school in the Great Land, Dr. Newcomb has the credentials. With his undergraduate studies at the prestigious Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, he earned a Master of Theological Studies degree at Duke University, and completed both a Master’s degree and doctorate in Historical Theology at Fordham University. He is the author of The Ark, the Covenant, and the Poor Men’s Chest, on the interpretation of the Christian Scriptures during the English Reformation. Before taking the helm at Holy Rosary, Dr. Newcomb served as Executive Vice President at Mount Saint Mary College in New York and Associate Dean for Academic Affairs at Belmont Abbey College. He is not only a Renaissance and Reformation scholar but also a leader in classical education in the Catholic Intellectual Tradition. All that being said, he is a humble, dedicated servant of Christ who puts others above himself. I am indeed privileged to chat with Dr. Newcomb today on “I’m Glad You Said That” and hope you can lean into our conversation. Thanks for your interest in “I’m Glad You Said That” and to John & Sandy Powers for their generous sponsorship of the show. We couldn’t do it without them.
